Val Thorens was built in the 1960s and has developed into a pleasant place in keeping with the beautiful nature. Val Thorens is the liveliest ski resort in the region and also offers snow-sure skiing and a varied choice of accommodation. There are fewer catered chalets in Val Thorens than in neighbouring resorts.
Most accommodation is in self-catering hotels or flats. You can choose to stay in the main part of Val Thorens at the top of the valley, in Les Menuires in the middle or in St Martin de Belleville at the bottom. All the resorts are connected by lifts, so you can move freely between neighbouring resorts.
