Zillertal Arena

The Zillertal Arena is one of the largest ski resorts in the Zillertal valley. In addition to family-friendly slopes and dedicated children's areas, it also boasts one of the longest valley runs in Austria. Several snow and fun parks await enthusiastic snowboarders and freestylers. The ski resort even has its own winter toboggan run, the Arena Coaster!

Hochzillertal – Hochfügen – Spieljoch

Unspoilt ski routes, several snow parks for all skill levels, fun slopes, race tracks and even a guest kindergarten: the Hochzillertal – Hochfügen – Spieljoch ski area truly leaves nothing to be desired! As a paradise for freeriders, the region also attracts visitors with cat skiing – an extraordinary deep snow adventure.

Mayrhofner mountain railways

The Mayrhofen ski resort in the Zillertal valley, not far from the Hintertux Glacier, comprises two ski mountains, Penken and Ahorn. Both peaks are easily accessible by gondola directly from Mayrhofen. Penken offers pure thrills, as it is home to Austria's steepest slope: the Harakiri.

Ski & Glacier World Zillertal 3000

The ski area includes the Hintertux Glacier, Eggalm, Rastkogel and Finkenberg. This means that a skiing holiday here is wonderfully varied! With fantastic views, you can carve down perfectly groomed slopes or glide through untouched powder snow. The combination of winter ski area and glacier ski area guarantees a particularly long skiing season.

In the extensive ski region, numerous rustic ski huts, cosy mountain inns and trendy après-ski bars invite you to take a break and enjoy culinary delights. The skilful blend of tradition and modernity makes your skiing holiday varied and unforgettable.

A highlight of a winter holiday in the Zillertal is the natural ice palace in the Hintertux Glacier. Explore the icy world far below the ski slopes and look forward to frozen waterfalls, unique ice formations, the ice chapel or a boat trip on the underwater glacier lake.

To explore the beautiful winter landscape to the full, there are ski tours, snowshoe hikes or very relaxed winter hikes. The alpine winter via ferrata in Hochzillertal is a unique experience. There is even a separate route for children.

Ski hire in the Zillertal Valley – Frequently Asked Questions

  • This picturesque valley is located in the Austrian province of Tyrol, which is also known as a skiing paradise. It takes around an hour to drive to the Tyrolean capital of Innsbruck, as well as to Kitzbühel, the venue for the legendary Hahnenkamm race. Kufstein and Tyrol's largest lake, the Achensee, can be reached by car in around 45-50 minutes.

  • Due to its altitude, the ski region is extremely snow-sure. This is especially true for the Hintertux Glacier. Here, you can even indulge in your favourite hobby in summer on around 20 km of groomed slopes. Incidentally, 77% of the slopes in the Zillertal Arena are above 1,700 metres. This means that almost 100% snow reliability is guaranteed throughout the winter. In addition, numerous snow-making facilities are available throughout the ski region to ensure sufficient snow cover down to the valleys.
